A professional golfer is somebody that receives payment for their performance at golf. In golf, the distinction between amateurs and professionals is rigorously maintained. An amateur who breaches the rules of amateur status may lose their amateur status. A golfer who has lost their amateur status may not play in amateur competitions until amateur status has been reinstated; a professional may not play in amateur tournaments unless the committee is notified, acknowledges and confirms the participation. It is very difficult for a professional to regain their amateur status; simply agreeing not to take payment for a particular tournament is not enough. A player must apply to the governing body of the sport to have amateur status reinstated.

6/4/2013 one of the common misconceptions about how to be a pro golfer is the idea that without a great looking golf swing you won't make it. Nothing could be further from the truth. I think that one of the unique aspects of golf over other sports is that every golf swing is as different as every thumb print. There is no "one way" to do it.
Congratulations! you've been invited out for a round of golf by a friend or a family member or (gulp) maybe even your boss. You're excited, but you're also petrified you might embarrass yourself because you're not quite sure of the protocol either on or off the course. Golf etiquette may seem complicated, and in truth, there's plenty you'll learn the more you play. But if you start with the following five points, you'll be fine. And remember, if you're still not sure of something, there's nothing wrong with asking. -- e. Michael johnson, senior editor, golf world.

The recruiting process for golf is much different than that for other high school sports. Most college golf coaches don't have the budget to travel and recruit the way coaches in other sports often do. Most college golf coaches rely on players sending in their resumés and video. This leaves it up to the high school player to decide which schools to contact.

As a golf caddy, you can expect to earn somewhere between $10-$15 per hour. The biggest issue with this type of work though is that your day to day schedule can be unpredictable. Instead of working one type of task like other jobs, you’ll help out with various jobs. This would be great for someone who would get bored quickly, but it is also a problem as you will have to learn new skills quickly. You will also need to have golf knowledge, since you might have to help fix the golf equipment or adjust the golf course. But even so, if you start now and stick to it, you’ll earn a decent about over the summer.
New orleans, louisiana - you'll be happy to know that i've formulated a standardized test, of sorts, to determine whether you have what it takes to be a really good golfer. If you have progressed enough in golf to be concerned over consistency then i will assume by now that you've hit at least a few solid golf shots. You know it's a good feeling and like all the rest of us golfers, you'd like it to happen more often, if not every time. So what does it take to become a more consistent ball striker ?.
One of the old school golf books all about swinging rather than using your body to rotate through the ball. Having said that - even if you are a body turner like me you'll still want to read this for its thorough discussion of the golf swing and probably the best collection of swing drills i have ever come across in a book. One arm stand on both legs, one arm and one leg, feet together, legs crossed, half swings, slow swings. You name it and its in this book.
